Year 5, Lesson 5

Climb the STAIR

Using AI to help you learn, not to learn for you.

Links: DL

Teacher demonstration. Where a demonstration helps, the teacher runs it on a school approved tool, previews it first and stays in control. The deck also includes prepared examples, so the lesson does not depend on a live demonstration working on the day. No pupil accounts. More on safety

The signature activity

Pupils plan a learning goal, write STAIR prompts that ask AI to quiz them or give feedback rather than answers, see them run in a teacher demonstration, then explain what they learned without the tool.

Learning intentions

  • I can plan how AI could help me with a learning goal.
  • I can write a STAIR prompt that asks for questions or feedback, not answers.
  • I can prove my learning by explaining it without the tool.

The slides

Teacher notes and answers sit in the speaker notes of every slide, and printable resources are at the end of the deck.
